8 Days Magazine + Alcatraz 2010

Hello~~

Finally, I'm able to convince myself not to be lazy and blog an entry. For those of you who wasn't informed, I will be moving house with my family by the end of this month so I will be super busy >0<!! Might not be able to blog as much as I want from now on :(. So today, I will be doing a pretty long entry to compensate hehe!

First up: I was featured on 8 Days magazine with my super kawaii Kelly :)!!

She's crazily adorable right :D? Just like those models from popteen magazine :). They definitely made the right choice to choose her to model for the Kawaii Gyaru section ^^.

My hime-gyaru look :). They even included step by step guide to how to achieve our looks as well ^0^! All products are from Shibuya Gals!! Thank you for the invitation :)! For more sneak preview of our shoot, please visit this post.

The only photo I took with kelly using my iphone. This will probably going to be my last time appearing on anymore media coverage since I might not have the time to do so anymore :(. But you will definitely be able to see Kelly modelling for more magazines and events :). I believe she would even appear on Japan's Popteen magazine one day too ^^. She's one of the most outstanding and driven girl I've met :).

Ok next up: Alcatraz 2010

My dear was forever grumbling on how he was not invited to go on the Alcatraz trip. Therefore, I decided to blog about our experience hehe! My bestie, Aveline, and I visited Alcatraz two years back during our summer exchange program :). Taking a degree in USA is great for many reasons, and one of them is you get to visit great historical landmark like this. For those who do not know the place, Alcatraz is an island located in San Francisco Bay.

It was a small island developed with facilites of lighthouse and military prison until 1963, and was claimed to be the toughest prison ever built. As prisoners of Alcatraz, an escape is nearly impossible because the prison was on an island surrounded by freezing cold water and super strong currents. Those who were braved enough to attempt would either turned back or died from hypothermia before they ever reached the shore.
Say until like the prison so powerful >.<....

Our ticket to Alcatraz!

Anyway, the journey to Alcatraz is dreadful and painful because there was no direct transportation from our hostel to the island. The team who managed the trip wasn't very efficient too. They made us take a 30 mins bus ride to the train station.

Waited for another 30 mins or so... Still no train >.<. Typcial singaporean here not too happy lor >0<! But if you live in USA and you do not owned a car, then you must develop the skill to be patient when it comes to public transportation. We even experienced waiting for a bus for an hour many times in their freaking cold weather >~<.

Yeah!! The train finally here!! (Note: Most photos are taken from Aveline =p)
After another 30 mins ride~~

Arrived at San Francisco!! Yesh!!!
For a second, we were happy until they broke the news that we have to walk 1 and a half hour to the ferry terminal >~<. NOOOOOOO ~~!!!

Ok, at least we got to see the gay pride parade on the way there, even though we have already seen it a week before... it's still better than nothing. I will blog about the gay pride parade if I have the time to :).

30 mins later... Yea! We saw a glimpse of the famous golden gate bridge but still no sight of the island...

1 hour later... We are getting closer to the ferry terminal!

2 hours later... We are finally on the ferry towards Alcatraz! Just 10 mins ride away :).

Outlook of the prison. Nice and oldddd~~

My pretty bestie, Aveline :).

That's me when I was in Alcatraz :D! Hurhur! A super different style as compared to now.

After I came back to Singapore I look like this:

Hehe!! The secret to this transformation is you have to bring a prince back with you so he can change you into a princess :).

As for those who do not want a prince. This is what you can do to have fun in San Frans beside going to party and drinking :).

You can do it not just in San Frans, but in LA too :)... or any part of the states hehe ^^.

See, she so happy :D!! Hehe! You know your trip won't be a boring one if you have a fun friend like this :).

Not to metion, she's damn cute too~~ Look at those big puppy eyes >0<!! How can don't love her, you tell me??

Ok, enough of us, back to Alcatraz hehe!

Going up the prison...

The map of the prison. We were given a radio to guide us through the place.

This is the changing room.

The prisoners' shower place. Totally no privacy at all can >0<??

Their normal cell. Pathetic small >.<...

At least this one has a bed in it.

But my cute bestie definitely didn't want to live in any of the cell, whether they gave her a bed or not. Aww~~ It's ok, we will be out soon :).

But after a walk through the prison hallway...

Aveline decided to try staying in one of the cell for a minute. But she didn't last even a second in there lol~

And already broke out into the open with a proud look~~

But the scenary from Alcatraz is breathtaking :)! You can actually see the city of San Frans and the golden gate bridge from here. Very beautiful.

And it's super windy out there too >~<!! I have took a video when we were outside the prison and you can actually hear the wind blowing fiercely.

I think another reason why they chose this location to build a prison was because any prisoners who were brave enough to escape must first fight the battle with the wind. Imagine, they were given so little food and were so thin, if they stepped into the open, they will sure get blown away. Lucky I was pretty fat back then hurhur! So I survived!! But aveline being skinny...

... could not beat the wind, so we went back inside the prison.

And we saw gunshot marks left behind during an infamous prison escape...

Some information of the infamous escape using a spoon... Wow >0<~~!!

To create this hole for escape... Amazing hor?? This is no normal spoon... it must be a spoon made by god to be able to dig a hole like that >~<.

After quite an insightful experience in the prison, we finally were back out in SF...
A photo of us before making our 3 hours journey back to our hostel. Travelling in the USA is such a pain if you do not have a car >.<... This is how we came to appreciate Singapore being small and to have convenient public transportation. But I still prefer and miss my life in USA a lot >0<! I will definitely go back there one day :)!

Anyway, after an exhausting trip back from Alcatraz, guess what we saw parked right in front of our hostel...

CSI!!!

Aveline was super excited even though a murder scene might have occured in our hostel >.<. She went like: OMG! CSI!! I love CSI!!  Must take photo!!

But I was too tired from the trip to even bother whether someone was murdered or not, guess you have to ask Aveline since I think she did went and asked around...

Hehe! I hope you have enjoyed reading my long entry :)!! Let me know if you want more k :D??
Bye bye for now~~
